Artwork & printing
How should I prepare artwork for a sharp print?
A good source file helps your print look its best, especially when you are using a large graphic or detailed image. Here is how to prepare your artwork for the size you want to print.
What resolution should I use?
Start with a high-resolution original, ideally at least 3000 × 4000 pixels, and aim for around 300 DPI at your intended print size. Larger artwork needs more pixels: a 60 cm-wide print at 300 DPI is roughly 7,087 pixels across. Using a detailed original gives our printing process the best material to work with. You can What print areas and placements are available? before preparing the file.
Will changing the DPI number sharpen an image?
Changing the DPI setting does not add detail to an image. If the original is too small, export a larger version from your design software or recreate it at the dimensions you need. What matters is how many real pixels the file contains at the size you want to print. Our How do I upload and position my artwork? shows how to preview it on the garment.
How do I remove the background?
Use a file with a transparent background if you only want the artwork itself to print. A white rectangle that is part of your file will also print, so check the preview on your chosen garment color before saving. This is particularly useful for logos and graphics that should sit directly on the fabric. You can test the result in the Explore the catalog.
How do I upload the file?
Open your garment in the design canvas and select the print view you want to work on. Click Drop your artwork here, then choose Upload in Image Files or select a design you have already saved. You can then adjust its scale, rotation and position. The How do I upload and position my artwork? shows each of these steps.
Does the builder create my artwork?
The design canvas lets you upload, position, scale and preview your artwork on the garment. It does not create or redraw the design for you, so bring a high-quality original that you own or have permission to print. Once it is uploaded, you have control over how it appears on your product. You can choose a garment and start designing.
