Maverick: When Quality Became Non-Negotiable

Maverick grew out of an obsession with retro American iconography, shaped by what the team describes as the “raw energy of the 80s and 90s, Western grit, and Californian freedom.” The world they were building resonated quickly, but it became clear early on that the product itself was holding everything back.

From the start, Maverick wanted to operate through POD, but after moving between providers including Printful, Printify, and several smaller platforms, the same problems kept repeating. The blanks were generic and cheap, the fits weren’t what customers wanted, and the small print sizes left their designs looking compromised. Quality issues led to predictable complaints, returns became routine, and repeat purchase barely existed. With acquisition costs across Google and Meta steadily increasing, the lack of returning customers became a growing liability.

Switching to Airventory solved the issue at its source. Instead of wrestling with thin blanks and restricted print areas, Maverick finally had access to garments with the weight, structure, and print capability their designs needed. Oversized artwork could be produced at full scale, the pieces aligned with what their customers wanted, and the quality surpassed expectations.

A more relevant catalogue meant Maverick could sell the blanks their audience actually wanted, doubling conversion rate in the first month. As quality continued to outperform expectations, repeat purchase rate climbed from 4.9 to 26 percent across their first six months with Airventory. All of this compounded, and by month eight, their net profit had increased ninety-eight percent.
